Poster: You Count
Prize Winners

Now is the time for you to make sure that the people you care about count, too. APEX invites schools to participate in YOU COUNT!, a citywide poster contest for grades K–12.

The YOU COUNT! contest is a fun, hands-on activity that will synthesize the information learned about the U.S. Census. It's also a great way to engage young people in advocating for their own communities.

Students are asked to create an 11x17 poster that tells their family and community about the upcoming 2010 Census. They should use colored pencil, pens, paint, charcoal, or crayons to create their poster. (NO computer-generated art and NO photography, please.)

  • Eligible participants: New York City Students in K–2, 3–5, 6–8, or 9–12
  • Topic: Design a poster that tells your family and community about the census
  • Poster size: 11 inch x 17 inch
  • Material: You can use paint, colored pencil, pens, charcoal, or crayons to make your poster
